END OF SUMMER JAM with The Motet, Kyle Hollingsworth Band, Eric Tessmer and Pandas & People.
THE MOTET
A concert or an album can unlock another world, if you let it. The Motet respect and revere this time-honored phenomenon. Fusing fiery funk, simmering soul, and improvisational inventiveness, the Denver, CO seven-piece—Lyle Divinsky [vocals], Dave Watts [drums], Joey Porter [keyboards], Garrett Sayers [bass], Ryan Jalbert [guitar], Parris Fleming [trumpet], and Drew Sayers [saxophone]—have continually provided an escape for listeners over the course of seven full-length albums since 1998, including their latest release Totem and with an upcoming 2018 release.

KYLE HOLLINGSWORTH
Thirty years ago, Kyle Hollingsworth set out on a career in music. Since then, with a wealth of desire and an abundance of ability, Hollingsworth has established himself as a formidable and versatile music talent, with the ability to contribute, collaborate, compose, and communicate on a number of levels and within a vast spectrum of musical environments. Today, as a member of acclaimed jam masters The String Cheese Incident, Hollingsworth is revered by both peers and fans for his ability to write and perform in a mosaic of styles, from rock to classical, ragtime to bebop. Playing in SCI has allowed him unrestricted access to the world of music, and has bestowed on him the kind of fearlessness a composer needs to flirt with such disparate genres. Those who’ve seen SCI know that they can jerk from funk to bluegrass on a chord change. “In the jam world, where there are no set ways of doing things, we’re not afraid to move in and out of genres,” he says, “and because of that I’ve learned to be creative, not only onstage but in the studio. I can get on board with something pretty quickly. You have to.”
While his versatility and quick-study nature have become his signature skills with SCI, they have also proved tremendously helpful on stage during collaborations with a bunch of major acts, including Paul Simon, Bruce Hornsby, Bob Weir, Little Feat, and banjo master Bela Fleck. One summer he toured with Phil Lesh in a band that also included Steve Kimock, John Molo, and Warren Haynes. In the summer of 2008 he spent the summer touring with the Mickey Hart Band. This group featured Mickey Hart,George Porter, steve kimock and many others. In another amazing highlight, Kyle also toured with Mike Clark in a band that starred nearly all the original Head Hunters.
These gigs prove that Hollingsworth is as unafraid to step out of the limelight as he is to step into it. “When I play with these performers it’s about showcasing them, to support the main role in the best possible way. Seasoned musicians can be tasty and laid back, too!” Kyle’s first solo album release in 2004 reflected his jazz tastes. Titled Never Odd or Even, Joshua Redman and Robert Randolph guested, among others. Never or Odd or Even was the recording Hollingsworth had always wanted to make since he was a kid. In addition to his jazz influences, the album’s music demonstrates Kyle’s ability to seamlessly fuse genres.

ERIC TESSMER
Born and raised outside of the small town of Richland Center, Wisconsin, Tessmer began playing at a young age, inspired by his father and grandmother. In 2000, he moved to Austin at the age of 19 to play gigs with numerous musicians and bands, earning local credibility as he honed his craft of riffing with speed, power and control. He later formed his own power trio, the Eric Tessmer Band, in 2003. Through a battered ’59 Fender Stratocaster producing vintage-correct tones, Eric kickstarts the engine left idling by guitar players of the past.
Known as one of the hardest working musicians in the area, Tessmer continues to travel the U.S., Canada and Europe. Creating his own brand of ‘blues-rock soul-chedelic’ sound, he has electrified festivals such as Montreal Jazz Fest, Summerfest, and MusikFest with dialed-in precision and delivered polished performances at clubs, pubs and venues across the land. Sharing the stage with notable musicians such as Dick Dale, Anders Osborne, Tab Benoit, Monte Montgomery, Gary Clark Jr. and Chris Duarte; Tessmer has created a buzz among the blues-rock community that is quickly swarming with devoted disciples.

PANDAS & PEOPLE
Pandas & People may call Colorado home, but the music transcends geographical borders. Since the band’s inception, founding member Joshua Scheer has carried the torch, attracting the attention of famed artists, diehard fans, and national radio, all in a matter of a couple of years. With a unique sound blending traditional folk and hook laden songwriting, P&P’s recorded material continues to become more eclectic with each release.
Their latest single, “Find You,” showcases a new venture into a realm of traditional folk bridged with modern rock, crafting an earnest and personal blend of sound, with gripping Mandolin melodies, moving lyrics and edgy rhythms sections. Currently working with Warner/Chappell producer and songwriter, Zac Maloy, the excitement is building for their debut album release set for October 20th, 2017.
Pandas & People debuted in late 2013 with their single “On My Way”, and went on to play shows frequently, including opening for well-known acts like Twenty One Pilots, The Doobie Brothers, Judah & the Lion and many more. The band also received several accolades, including being named “Best New Artist” by the The Colorado Sound, and are a two time winner of “Best Folk Band in Colorado” in 2016 and “Best Americana Act” in 2017 by Colorado’s renowned Westword Magazine. Pandas & People have also placed in the top 3 for 93.3 KTCL’s state-wide competition “Hometown for the Holidays” in two of the past three years, with singles “On My Way” and “Find You” hitting the top 10 in the Denver Metro Shazam charts while in rotation.
The live band is accompanied by Conrad Marshall, Tucker Ewing, Dave Brown and Michael Kinney, bringing an energetic and moving live performance to the stage, urging their audience to experience “the moments in between”. As a whole, the band continues to thrive not only in the Colorado music scene, but all over the country, with fans latching on to that unique energetic folk sound with a twist.
